Last week we attended SCEWC 2016, and it was a great experience overall. SCEWC '16 was a great opportunity to get in touch with companies froman entirely different ecosystem, one we have not been in touch with until now. By providing our network visibility solution to government bodiesof different countries — and the companies focused on helping build the smart cities of the future — we can help realize the vision that a city is smart only if it is well connected.
Events we took part in:
1) Presenting our product: Our CEO Josep Sanjuas was given an opportunity to present our amazing product on the very first day of the expo to a very responsive audience.
2) Attending the Brokerage Event: The one-on-one meetings in the brokerage event tend to be the most productive part of a congress such as this, and during these we explored two paths. One was to discuss partnerships with network providers at city level and to provide visibility into those networks. The other was a more explorative approach to providing visibility to the internet of connected devices — IoT — which given their nature, require a distinct approach than good old standard web traffic. It is always refreshing to be in contact with the lively ecosystem of companies that has formed around the broad concept of Smart Cities, from large companies to startups.
The timeline for these pre-arranged meetings to flourish is sometimes longer than more commercially-focused deals — but, when they do, they drive business at a much larger scale. We'll have more to say on this in the future; keep an eye on our blog!
We’d like to give a shout out to the awesome people from @eencat who were behind the brokerage event, and the amazing work they do to hold an event-within-an-event.
What did we get out of the Smart City Expo?
The 3 days of the expo showed us a "short trailer" of the future! We were so excited to see the upcoming technologies that will soon be impacting our lives. We were also surprised to see how much India is investing into smart cities in the process of transforming a country with over a billion people.
Overall, we had a great response towards our product and this event has opened doors for us to enter the world of smart cities. A big thank you to everyone who visited us. We are looking forward to seeing you next year at SCEWC '17!
